Decoy Single 27

Many anglers choose to replace the trebles on their lures with single hooks, and the Decoy Single 27 meets all the requirements for this.

Perhaps it should be said that this hook is designed primarily for light fishing, i.e. to replace the trebles or even damaged singles of the lightest lures in our collection. The steel thickness of the Decoy Single 27 is decisive and the sizes in which it is available also show this.

We would love to be able to recommend precise measurements to replace the trebles with these Decoy Single 27 but the reality is that this comparison can be done almost exclusively by sight, I'll explain how. Remove the treble from the lure and place it on the table, with a caliper or a ruler measure the distance between the points of the two hooks that rest on the desk, as this measurement is the same as the opening of the single should have, from the point to the shank.

The smallest sizes of the Decoy Single 27 will be the ones with the largest number, #8 and #6 for example, suitable for small lures, perhaps up to 5cm, up to the 1/0 which is the largest, for lures of 9/11cm. Remember that removing two trebles and putting in two singles may change the action or even the buoyancy of the lure, sorry we don't have a convincing answer, but it's just a matter of trying it out.

Changing hooks on hard lures is something we sometimes do out of obligation, for example, to fish some trout sections of a river, because we don't like the idea of hooking a fish with three points or six, if the two trebles get stuck, or also because we trust more in the grip of a single hook like the Decoy Single 27. It's good to remember that a treble will find a spot to strike more easily, but a single, which is sharper and has a point with greater penetration, if it finds the right spot, it will be more difficult for it to get loose. Surely a recommendable option to improve our fishing action.
