Whether you fish in the tropic or some large critters in your home waters the Owner STBL66 trebles are the way to go.

These are the treble hooks we grew up with, they travelled the world with us and there was nothing better. At the moment you have stronger hooks available, for example the ST seventy six, but many people still favor these for a series of reasons. They don't cost a fortune and enough performance for the most of the fishermen fishing the tropics.

We have the complete selection of ST66, all size, that is. The smaller ones are normally used for specific saltwater applications but also for many large freshwater critters that don't take too large lures. We think about peacock bass, snakehead, salmon and alike. From #2/0 to #4/0 we get into the tropical and tuna league.

Maybe, when it comes to rig these hooks, if we are changing the original ones from a lure, we might want to pick a larger split ring. The size of the steel is quite larger than other hooks so when opening the split ring we might damage it if it too tight. For #3/0 and #4/0 we suggest you to use at least Owner Hyper Wire size #10 or #11 or Molix Hyper Split Rings #9.

If you would like to rig these hooks on a lure that has a very specific action, suspending or a WTD for example, be careful because the weight of the treble could negatively influence the action of the bait. If you would like to squeeze the barbs we give you a tip, color the area with a permanent marker, it will keep the oxidation at bay.

Using extra strong hooks like the Owner ST66 is not always necessary, but if you think about Murphy's law, you know that sometimes is unavoidable.
